Golf Course Fees - Learn about Golf Greens Fees

A player must pay certain fees in-order to play a round of golf on a golf course. There are two different types of fees; one is the range fee, this fee is for use of the practice range, and then there is green fee, this fee allows a golfer to play on the course itself. However for most courses, the range fee is not required to play the course.

The green fee can vary by a few dollars for communal courses, and it can vary by hundreds of dollars for public courses. A lot of golf courses are not open to the public. Private golf clubs also have green fees, but in order to play on one of these courses, one generally needs to be invited by a member of the club. Discounts on fees may be offered to players that start their round late (on some courses, unusually early) in the day.

If the course has golf carts, there is in most cases a fee charged to use them. On some courses, walking is not permitted, in these cases the cart fee is usually included with the green fee.
