Famous Golf Courses to Check Out and Play

Golf reviews, highlights and personal comments on many famous golf courses from Florida to California and many states in between.

Amelia Island - Ocean Links Beautiful and awesome course. A real challenge, tight and strong ocean winds. Go out of your way to play this one!

Atlantic City - Seaview Pines Course be sure you're hitting your sand wedge properly. A great course, bunkered perfectly. Use long irons, fairways are narrow.

Atlantic City - Seaview Bay Course Excellent husband and wife course, but the mosquitoes are big! One of our guys had a hole in one, but it was on the hole next to the one we were playing!

Boca Raton - Resort Course great course, but a little distance from the hotel

Charleston - Kiawah Osprey Point A shotmaker's course, Tight, not too long, but a challenge.

Ft. Lauderdale - Bonaventure East/West Fun Courses - especially the par 3 guarded by a waterfall.

Hilton Head - Sea Pines Course A great course - everyone should play this beauty!

Las Vegas - Las Vegas Golf Club A nice course and a pleasant change from the casinos.

Miami - Doral Resort, Blue Monster Some great holes - #18 is the one to remember

Miami - Doral Resort, Great White A pleasant round of golf. Playing at Doral is always a pleasure as the whole staff is so great!

Monterey - Links at Spanish Bay Deceptive - a tough course. Just don't stray off fairways

Monterey - Rancho Canada West A good round of golf.

Monterey - Pebble Beach Golf Links On a windy day it is murder! On a calm day it's quite easy. Every day is expensive.

Monterey - Black Horse Golf Course Another fun course.

Monterey - Spyglass Hills Golf Course One of my all-time favorite courses, especially the first 5 holes

Myrtle Beach - Colonial Charters Pretty routine course

Myrtle Beach - The Witch This course can challenge you with it's tight fairways

Myrtle Beach - Legends Oyster Bay Like all the Legend Courses, well laid out, pretty and a challenge. You must place your shots

Myrtle Beach - Wild Wing Hummingbird Typical SC course - fairways lined with pine trees, enjoyable and not overpowering

Myrtle Beach - Pawleys Plantation All around a nice course, but a couple of odd holes - a 60 yd par 3 for example

Myrtle Beach - Blackmoor When you play expect 2 or 3 blind holes, not to my liking exactly

Myrtle Beach - Caledonia Certainly one of the prettiest courses in SC and much tougher than you might expect. Not bad from the senior tees, but the par 3's can be tough from the tips

Myrtle Beach - Willbrook You must be a shotmaker for this course. Not long but you have to know the club to hit and the place to hit the ball.

Myrtle Beach - River Club This is a good game of golf, long but not too long, some easy holes, some tough. You'll go back to play this course again

Orlando - Grenelefe West Grenelefe's courses are great resort courses. Not too tough, but just right for the majority of players. You don't get tired of playing them.

Palm Springs - PGA West Norman Long carries off the tee - a course for limber-backs.

Palm Springs - La Quinta Mountain Course A mountain goat of a course, but great views and fun to play

Pebble Beach Golf Links - I have to say this is perhaps the best golf course in the U.S. Scenic, challenging and a must play.

Phoenix - Arizona Biltmore Links Course Nice course - not tough. A good place to hone up your game

Phoenix - Golf Club at Eagle Mountain This course is in Fountain Hills and a beauty. I like this one - great views, very hilly and a placement course

Pinehurst Resort & Country Club A walk in the woods will never be the same after golf in Pinehurst. GOLF MAGAZINE rated the #2 Course 4th best out of the "Top 100 Courses You Can Play in the U.S." for 2002, we go along with that.

Scottsdale - TPC Stadium Course Long - typical TPC - you play it to say you have, but don't rush back for a replay

Scottsdale - The Phoenician One of the most manicured golf courses in the country. Really a great one to play. Not too hard

Scottsdale - Grayhawk Raptor A good 18, tough enough, but not extreme - wide enough and the 19th hole is outstanding

Phoenix - ASU Karsten Golf Course A real good test of your golf game, like your Pings, a professional type course

San Diego - La Costa South Course Great Course, but the spa fees will get you if you bring your wife

San Diego - Rancho Bernardo Inn, West Course Overall a great resort, the course is not too tough - just pleasant

Tampa - SaddleBrook Resort Saddlebrook has it all - tough holes and short holes that will eat you up - the staff is great. Overall one of the best resorts for golfers in the country.

Mamaroneck, N.Y. - Winged Foot If you think the pros talk to themselves on this one, wait until you try it. One of our favorites though. Fortunate enough to play it many times.
